Helpful Hints for fanfic writers

When writing a fanfic do it in MS Word or similar, then copy and paste it into the typing box on GBN. It means that you can write the story at your leisure and gurantees you a back up copy should things go wrong.
It also avoide the occasional problem of being submitted with no username, as has happened, due to the extensive time it takes to write.

Indeed, I really surprises me that some people type them directly into the submission field. It's a lot easier on you guys if you write it in notepad/Word and then paste it into the field.

You aughta try to get the Mods to sticky this one, actually; maybe rename it "Helpful Hints for Fan Fic Writers" and put more stuff on it. Like this:
Here's something else useful: some html tags can be used to create effects (just delete the spaces between the letters and the < and > marks--I have to put them in or they won't show up in the examples
< i > Stuff you want italicized < /i >
Will come out...
Stuff you want italicized
< b > Stuff you want in bold type < /b >
Stuff you want in bold type
< u > Stuff you want underlined < /u >
Stuff you want underlined
< tt >Stuff you want in "teletype" < /tt >
(This doesn't show up in the Message Board posts, sorry)
The effects can be mixed, too, as in one of the lines of my signature...

Creates a horizontal rule. (This does not have to be closed)

Starts a new paragraph (guarantees an empty line in between paragraphs)(Does not have to be closed unless you center or align the paragraph, as below)

Just remember to close all of your tags, or you'll end up with something that looks like THIS
