Now, I'm pretty sure there was an episode of EGB that had the squad go to an alternate world, where Gozer had not been defeated.
That, or it was a fan-fic I read.
Either or, take that idea and add to it:
What if the Extreme Ghostbusters were vaulted into an alternate reality? Imagine a world, where their mentors had not defeated Gozer, but the creature had taken control in 1984. In this world, skip ahead 5 years, and the rebirth of Vigo. The world had become a giant battlefield between 1989 and 2003, the two demigods sparring it out with armies of minions, the human race enslaved. Who ya gonna call, now?

The idea sounds good. Now clean it up a little and smooth out the edges and you got a fanfic that'll get tens all over.

You may be right about that. There was an ep of the 2nd animated TV series where Kylie was sucked into a future where ghosts had taken over the earth. It's been several years since sci-fi showed the GB toons, so-I can't recall the head ghosts name in it and unfortunately, the streamer for that ep, don't work on this site, and this is the only site on the whole wide web that I know of that has GB toons these days. Interesting concept for a ff though. Point of interest, if memory serves (which unfortunately it most often DOES NOT) Vigo, was not a demi-god in the 2nd live action film but, a disincarnte evil human, looking to some how take possession of a babyies body, so he could live again. As I say my memory is faulty more often than not, so if you write it, check out the facts 1st. good luck cheerie bye.

There is a very good story at fanfiction.net in which Roland is transported to a parallel universe where the Ghostbusters never got started. Maybe this is what you're thinking of. Janine is dead, Eduardo and Kylie are vampires, Garrett is their slave and a kind of Frankenstein's monster, Egon is wandering around New York ranting about ghosts and everybody thinks he's mad.
However most of the story does not happen in the parallel universe. Eduardo, Kylie and Garrett all end up following Roland home, so perhaps this isn't what you're thinking of.
I'm afraid I haven't seen every single episode of EGB - I don't believe they all got shown over here in the UK - but I have seen most of them, and this doesn't sound like one I've seen. I have seen the one where Kylie goes forwards in time, and I am fairly sure that Gozer was not involved. But somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.
Just for the record, I do have a little bit of a dislike for the parallel universe idea. If reality somehow gets changed, that's ok, but I just don't believe parallel universes could ever just exist. Ok, so I don't believe in ghosts and goblins either; I don't even believe in God. But at least they offer some kind of explanation.
That said, parallel universe stories nearly always make a very good read. The ideas explored are often fascinating, and if you were to the write the story, I'm sure I'd think it was absolutely fantastic. It would be against my principles ever to write one myself, I suppose, but when I read parallel universe stories I often find I enjoy them.

"Ghost Apocalyptic Future" was the title, and the villain was a dude named Tempus. Kylie gets switched into the future, and Garrett meanwhile is mortified to learn that all of the other XGB's are considered legends except him ("Even Eduardo?!?"). This future is voided when the Ghostbusters stop Tempus from killing Egon and opening the containment unit.

this is definitley a good idea.
oh and egb fan if the possibilities of quantumn physics are to be completley believed, then parallel dimensions have a real good posibility of existing, the improbable part is transversing between them

I'm sorry, I just can't accept it. I mean parallel dimensions as in Thundercats and Bucky O'Hare, maybe. It's just the idea of alternate versions of oneself I don't like. That, surely, is not possible.
Veedramon, what do you mean "even Eduardo"? He's the best one! Though maybe not in terms of the contributions he makes to the whole operation... Ok, point conceded.

That was Garrett's sentiment on the matter, paraphrased as best I could. Not neccessarily mine!
