With careful work and focus, would I be able to get the proton pack done with the right set of plans and materials in one weekend? I'm just wondering, I don't want to rush, but I don't want to be late either. I'd like to deck out my GB materials this year...

You might be able to pull of a not so accurate one, but you could probably do it. If you had all the materials already, you could probably build it in one weekend, but it might not be perfect. But I haven't built an accurate pack before, mines just recognizable as a proton pack.

i did this time last year. my advice is to be sure you have the stuff to make it, or things that look like the stuff to make it and the plans to mod things to look like parts if you need to.
then start at a good time, like noon, and work constantly on it until midnight or until its done(dont worry about painting, as you can do that the next day). sure you can eat, sure you can drink, do that by the pack, so you dont have to leave it. only leave to go to the bathroom or to go to the store to get stuff you need. make a list of things so you can get all your stuff at one time. and only then go if you cant go anywhere with out the needed items for your pack. lock yourself in your room too.

sure cardboard sucks ass, but it helped me out with my spacer and gun last time. this time im using house for sale signs for that. believe it or not, super walmart mushroom containers are perfect for alot of the parts you need. i used 8? sure its a lot of mushrooms, but i love'em. gatorade bottle tops can be used for the crank generator knob. valance rod for the gun mount(and gun hook to hang off your belt, if you can figure a way to bend it right.)

if you take that advice, you can do it easily before the weekend's up, i did the same thing last year, but during the school week. and i didnt get done until 5 am. if you dont finish, sleep. sleep. sleep. then work on it the next day non stop. dont go insane over it.

Yes, if you use Javamonkey and Volguus parts... no problem, piece of cake! Only worry would be the gun.
