for the last couple of months, i have been conducting R&D on both the Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters Proton Packs.

My findings: It is extremely hard to make exact copies of an animated piece of equipment for the simple fact that some parts go beyond being able to do it and get it right the first time.

in other words, if you plan to do it only once, its going to be crappy looking. when they drew these things, they didnt intend that someone was going to build an exact prop replica.

anyway, i have found that the animated packs, eliminating the rough corners, are really easy to build. if you have time and about 60-80 bucks to kick around, these are the packs you can build in time of halloween.

unfortunetly, im afraid i dont have the time to release the plans in order for y'all to be Ghostbusters this halloween. BUT! if you can hold out long enough, youll be able to have them sometime around christmas.

As for the EGB pack, it is still under heavy construction concerning design and methods of building. plans might not ne out until at the least febuary sad but they are going to be damn accurate! smile i promise!

The EGB Pack: I've said it before and I'll say it again: Soda Cans.

yeah,

soda cans are a rather obvious option to use. But I think 2 inch PVC would work better. It can be very hard to mask a can so it doesn't look like a soda can. You can easily cut PVC to cover it up and the add a cap made of chip board to the end of the PVC to close it off. Then add paint and what not. The gun is obviously gunna be the hardest part. It could be mostly made of PVC of course. For the tip, well, you could just get a little creative with wood to make that part. THe real kicker would be to make the rest of the gun. And make it durable enough to stay in place. I know there are a few people currently in the process of trying to make one. I have no intention myself but I find it to be an interesting project. I have made posts before about different web sites which off good resourses and ideas.

actually, for the tip, i used an old "EVEREADY" flashlight and a cap from a lava-lamp, and attached them together. its a little expensive, but its one of the better ideas i could come up with.

i think for the particle filter box (box on top of the gun) i might use a Radio Shack project box. ideas?

for the canisters, i already used coke cans. it works out fine, actually. i even made a way to connect and disconnect the canisters from the gun.

for the most part, the EGB pack is the easiest to build. now, if i could just figure out how to get this info into plans.
