I don't understand why people give low ratings just because the prop is 3D. Sure it isn't a real prop and maybe isn't movie perfect but it doesn't deserve a 1. Like The RGB or EGB packs, there are people who gave ones because they didn't read the description. Or the custom Ectomobiles, now the people who give low ratings to those just piss me right off. They obviously don't realise how much time and work go into these props, especially the Ectomobiles.

It's the same case with fics, some people don't realise how much time goes into them, though having said that, I've been guilty of that as well.

But in my opinion,, while 3D models aren't real props, they're Virtual Props, they mightn't be real, but they're still as detailed as their real world counterparts. And in the mind's eye of the Virtual Porp maker, they're as real as the real props.

Thank you, kingpin!! You put it much better than I did tongue

And the people who make 3D ectomobiles....just wow!!!...I've been trying for a little while now....and man...it is sucking so bad....the thing barely looks like a car...let a lone an ECTO....Any one with the $$$ can buy a '59 caddy.....but it takes a lot of talent and hard work to model one in 3D.....

I'd like to challenge the real proppers to make 3D props.....if you can get access to a 3D modelling program....then post them here....I think it would be interesting to see how it goes.

id rather not make a 3d prop, because im not interested in that. so you wont be seeing your challenge met from me, because i dont care for it.

id like to see a "3d propper" actually build something. some are using building programs to "build" your "props", put that to use and do it.

one of the reasons I make 3d props is because I don't have the ability or resources to make "real" props. Which is why I make virtual ones instead.

And besides, if you expect us digitals to make "real" props, why can't you make a virtual one?

i said i dont like them? us builders were given a challenge to make a 3d prop, i wasnt going to let that get off scot free.

what im sayin, is do whatever. im not makin 3d "props" nor am i looking at them any time soon. i put a vote to changing the name to "ghostbuster renderings" or "ghostbuster 3 models." thats where you get the most guff.

that's fine that you don't wanna do it....and I did suggest a section for 3D props.

Challenging us back is kinda pointless....because if we were able to make real props we would have by now. My challenge was to maybe enlighten some people...see who does it...and to see if it opens their eyes a little bit. If you're not interested...that's fine...and then I wonder why it is, ProtonCharger, that you keep posting negative things here if you really and truly don't care.

and heres physical props http://www.unlimiteddimension.net/images/traps9.jpg
http://www.unlimiteddimension.net/images/batman.jpg
http://www.unlimiteddimension.net/images/traps8.jpg

my 3d ecto has taken longer then any "real" prop i have built so far and im still working on her, although i belive my 89 batmobile replica "real" is gonna take longer, but still, 3d props can be jsut as challeging then real props.

I made a pointless challenge because the challenge you made was pointless. I didn't mean to be offensive in any of this, but it seems that when i just speak i piss people off. Oh well.

i dont know about the rest but i wasent offended, im just messin with u to try and prove a point, which has been stated though this whole thred, both 3d and real prop work are both exactly that prop work, some 3d ppl may not have the skill to build real props, just like some real prop builders may not have the skill to do 3d, or as u stated they may not jsut be inot that kind of thing, but just cuz there not does not mean other ppl arent, ....were was i going wtih this....oh yea untill uve done both, u cant really make a jugement on how easy the other is or if its really prop work or not, cuz as i have stated a prop is by defention anything that assist the aid of an actor, and in the end that prop can either be 3d or real as most ppl who work in movies under props. or graphics will tell u.

actually sg1star, you hit both of the challenges. which is awesome, btw id like to see your batmobile. i entered this conversation positively, and words of mine were construed to negatively. in any event, im not a fan of 3d props, sure they dont deserve 1s because they are misleading, or the people that rate low are losers and/or dont like that person. my advice, when it comes to ANY KIND OF PROPRATING be it negative or positive, is to GET OVER IT.

now, thats where im negative. blow.

I'm sorry, but I disagree with you 1000 and 10 percent. If you can't build a prop, don't try to pass off a 3D model as one. Making a 3D model of a prop isn't any different (in terms of prop fabrication) than just drawing a picture of one. and being an artist doesn't make you a master propper! I'm sorry, but that's simply not the way earth works. Can you pick up and put on a 3D model? No. Can you wear one for halloween? No.

Is 3D modelling hard to do? Yes. Does it take talent? Yes. Does it belong in the same category as actual, real-life creations? Absolutely not. Putting them together is like saying apples and oranges are the same because they're both fruit.

Delete this post if you want mods, but that's simply my opinion. Furthermore, "Mellie", where exactly do you get off telling people to not post their opinions? How about if I told you to stop posting yours?

Please - don't get me wrong. I love 3D models, moddeling and modelers. To death. I just do not think that 3d models = props. Two completely different things.

ur right making a 3d model doesnt make u a master proper, it ameks u a 3d artest, but that 3d prop art is still a prop even though u cant wear it, cuz its a 3d prop. when u say "Can you wear one for halloween?" ur not talking about props, ur talking about phiscal objects,

there are 3d props and real props thats the way the world works, like it or not

i didn't tell people not to post their opinion i said to not rate 3D props low just because u don't think they belong there... tongue

And read the post before you open ur mouth....I DID suggest a separate section for 3D models, as did a few others.

Can you be any more ignorant? No. Sure 3D props aren't 'real' props, no one said they were. Yet they take skill to make. I'd like to see someone like you get a 3d program such as Rhyno 3D, and attempt to make something decent, such as Jay, Mellie, and SG1Star. Until you do that... I suggest you stop talking about things you do not know about, such as the making of 3D props. Also, no one said making 3d props made you a 'master propper,' and in addition, not one single person here is a 'master propper.'
