Oh yes, I chanced across a similar toy, it's either by that company licenced by Kenner, or it really is a fake, something about the jumpsuit doesn't look right though.

The seller is from Argentina, which I think goes a long way to explaining that. The packaging is top notch - counterfeit toys are usually in terrible looking packaging.

there is quite a bit of paint wear to be brand new, though. maybe they were just low-quality figures, though. pretty cool...

Anyone else pick up on the fact it says 'Action Zapping Ray'?

It's a ray, that zaps, which is an action.

It says Winston at the top of the pack, in the little picture (if that's what you were wondering about - it's not a mislabeled character name)

Umm... guys, something's fishy here...

I have right here in front of me an original-run Winston figure, much like the one on Ebay. Beyond the paint wear, there are several discrepancies that caught my eye:

1) The Ebay Winston's shirt collars are yellow; the original figure had collars the same pale blue as the rest of his suit.
2) The Ebay Winston's skin is much darker and glossier than the original's, which was a more subdued coffee color.
3) "Action Zapper Ray"? Um.... I don't like to think that Kenner would really print "Action Zapper Ray" on an RGB figure's package...
4) Winston's belt, and the straps of his pack, are black on Ebay... they should be a dark grey-blue.
5) On the picture that is supposedly of the back of the card, the instructions at the top of the card are for a Peter Venkman action figure, not a Winston Zeddmore...
6) Last, and worst, the plastic "proton stream" bit on the pack is red... RED! It should be yellow! In fact, this is made PAINFULLY obvious by looking closely at the picture that supposedly represents the back of the card... Winston, colored correctly, is shown holding a pack with a yellow stream!

Now, I will admit that it's an excellent fake... the "I ain't 'fraid of no ghost" speech bubble above Winston's head is there, and the correct ghost is in the package, if I'm not mistaken... but I still have my doubts.

I was wondering, don't toys usually have proofs of purchase. The picture doesn't show any.

Guys! It's the figures made by JOSCA. That's why you're noticing differences. They were produced in Argentina under license from Kenner. They are 100% legit. It's just a different card/bubble. I've seen the German Granny Gross for sale on Ebay, almost bought her too, and her card is a little different as well.

I wouldn't put too much into "paint" problems. You're looking at a digital picture through a plastic bubble. Flaws on the bubble could be what you're seeing. This is part of a whole set, BTW.

The Ray is an interesting mix of parts and card art. But I'm still inclined to think it's a legitimate third party run. It happens all the time. Sometimes those products are good, sometimes they're a little shaky. They'd have to be a lot worse before I'd worry about them being knock-offs.

Dang, those are really wild. What does it take for another country to get the right molds/paint for these things, huh?

It was very common for Kenner to give rights to other overseas companies at that time. I mean, do any of you collect vintage MOC Star Wars?? There were at least 4 different overseas companies producing the figures... All with slightly different cards, and sometimes with differences on the figures them selves. These are real (or I sure hope so because I bought the Ray last night before reading this thread normal tongue ).

Besides people... look at this. Figure from different series. Seller is different, but still from Argentina like the other one... and the figure has the same company logo on it. This pretty much proves that they arnt bootlegs...
