Why was this truly awesome game released in such sucky format in America making true awesomeness beholders have to locate pirate cartridges to bask in its unbelievable awesomeness? Was this not one of the greatest games of all time? Why, why were we who birthed the busters the ones who were deprived of the true awesome game?

Download it at my website, The Unofficial Ghostbusters Download Center. It'll run on pretty much any NES emulator out there. But for best results I'd use NESticle under Windows or Graybox under Mac.

I still think one of the best GB games around is the GB2 game for Game Boy.

I never saw the European GB2 game. What was so different about it?

It only possesses all the coolness one could want. Basically, the game follows almost exactly along the plot of the movie. The characters are pretty much in super deformed mode and you can choose at the start from Peter, Egon, Ray, Winston, or some other guy (can't remember his name right now oh well). You can choose only two at a time. There doesn't really seem to be a difference in abilities or anything, I guess it's all look. Winston is green. Then you run around the game and catch ghosts. For example, first level follows the two Ghostbusters you picked running through the courthouse to get the brothers as they come out of the vial of goo. The cool part is the catching. You hold the beam on the ghost, and then the other character (who you really don't control and simply follows you around) runs up in position and you press the other button and they trap them. For bosses you normally hold the beam on them longer until they change color and then trap. There are tons of different ghosts lifted straight from the movie, along with lots of tricks and traps and puzzle-like situations. The graphics are crisp and super smooth, nothing like the poor release we got. The challenge level is nice also and gets progressively tougher as you go along. I still can't get past the firehouse level (only level 3) because it has so many floors. Trust me, it's good. A nicely put together game and all sides.

So Ghostbusters II NES European is like Ghostbusters II Gamboy in North America.

Sort of, but NEW GB2 (European version) is much better than the Game Boy version.

You can also d/l it at my site *link below*

I'm going to say, yeah it's better simply based on the two systems, but I have never played the Gameboy version, so I really don't know. More memory and so forth on the NES, plus color.

The NES release had colour. Other than that the games were pretty much the same. Sure the layout of the levels was different, but there were the same ghosts, graphics, music and everything else. Basically GB2 GameBoy was a port of the European NES release. Regular GB2 for NES was cool too though, with the Ecto-1A driving scenes (the Ecto-1A can jump!) and it was a cool side-scroller, even if you could only use the Slimeblower as your weapon, and you played as Winston in the courthouse.

Oh, I've played that via emulator. The fifth character is Louis, and actually had more of the movie's soundtrack in it.

Yeah, then it was like the Game Boy version then. Excellent. wink

New Ghostbusters 2 is my all-time favorite GB game. I thought it was so awesome they used movie music. I usually play emulators with a CD on, so imagine my surprise when I turned my CD player off and heard a little digitized version of "We're Back"!
