I'm really excited!

I was flipping through a Ghostbusters comic that I picked up at a second life comic store, and I came across the poster insert in the middle of the book. Glancing up at my wall I realized that a Decent ghostbuster's poster is the only thing missing from my new 80's cartoon themed wall covering. I'd have just torn the insert out of the comic and tacked it up, but I figured that wouldn't be doing Ghostbusters Justice (wall real estate wise) I already have a big He-Man poster and a big StarScream (transformers) Poster. So what I really needed to round out the pack was a Ghostbusters movie poster, or something along those lines

AAANYway, I hit ebay and found not only a movie poster, but these ORIGINAL ART pages from the very issue I happened to be reading. Needless to say i plunked in a bid right then and there. Upon further investigation, it turns out that the pages are drawn by none other than Evan Dorkin. (Evan Dorkin, for those who don't know, went on to pen the insanely funny Milk And Cheese Comic strip. and even did a stint writing episodes of the SpaceGhost, Batman, and Superman animated series) So it was a sweet deal because I quite admire his work, even though I didn't recognize it in this Real Ghostbusters issue(because the two titles seem so far removed from one another that it was hard to make the connection).

As it turns out, the guy who I bought my Ghostbusters pages from is none other than KEN STEACY. Like, Ken Steacy the guy who did the covers... and inked the pages... and yes... even COLORED the pages. (I color Comics for a livin' so this was quite the revelation) Now this is doubly exciting when you realize that Ghostbusters Issue #3 is the book that originally got me into buying comics, and I attribute that purchase DIRECTLY to the Ken Steacy cover on the book.

I think I'm going to explode.

thumbs up!

No, I saw the page you're talking about in Completed items though.. that would have been sooooo sweet. it went for insanely cheap too. I'm sad about that. I feel your pain on the comp problems that's gotta suck. I got the full color pages (one of them pictured if you click the link above.) no ghostbusters on em. just ghosts and a snazzy spelling error
"dimention" hehe.

if anyone's interested in getting the lunchbox art it's up for grabs

I've spent my allotment this month so I can't get it sadly.

that lunchbox art is SO cool! kinda pricey, though. i'm waiting, and hoping, that the original artwork of the guys in/on top of ecto1, with movie style uniforms, will pop up on ebay. i'm also looking for animation cels of the original rgb promo, with all tan suits.

Dean, the artwork is amazing. What comic is that, and what's the deal with your avatar (which is kinda like Dick Tracy meets the Invisible Man, albeit really cool).

d_osborne I'm sure the artwork for that RGB promo is long gone. I'd very much love to have that piece as well.
I'm reeeeaaaally looking for the art from the cover To the Volume 1 Now Comics Ghostbusters issue 3. It was my first comic and has a special place in my heart. I'd do whatever it took to scrape the money together to get that puppy if it jumped up on ebay even at an insane price.

I'll let you know if I see those cells. That'd be a sweet thing to have.

spirit68 I have a sneaking suspicion that you looked at the Lunchbox art. So that's not from a comic, it's the original artwork for the front of a lunchbox.

My avatar is from one of the pieces of art I bought
http://www.toyangel.com/dean/forum/EvanDorkinKenSteacy.jpg from real ghostbusters Issue 4. it's the head of a ghost Gangster dude. I figured it was appropriate for the "Ghosthead" tag that the forum sticks under everyone's name.

there's no real reason to belive that the rgb promo artwork is gone. there are thousands of cels, just a matter of finding them.

I'm sorry, I thought you meant the art we were talking about in the other thread (the one I'm buying the slide of) I figure someone's snatched that up long ago and is treasuring it. The Cells on the other hand are bound to show up somewhere.

That was the first issue of the RGB comic I ever had, if I remember it correctly.

Evan Dorkin drew that? Wow. I can't see the resembalance between that and Milk & Cheese, personally.

Yeah, the fact that it was Evan Dorkin blew my mind when I looked at the credits recently too.

I got the pages all nicely framed, framing cost me 2.5 times as much as the actual art. That's nuts!

i'm in the same framing position dean. a lot of my original concept art and storyboards were cheaper than the actual frames. smile
