I think Peter likes to pretend that Janine has a thing for him. But for that to happen, he'll need to dial 1-800-YOU-WISH.
Second, I personally think Egon is confused about his feelings for Janine.
Third, to me, Janine comes off as someone who is way too desparate. That really scares some guys. Egon more so, hence, that's why he seems confused about his feelings for her.
And finally, as a GB fan who lists Janine at the VERY bottom of 'favourite characters' list, I'm glad they never got together. I would've gotten violently ill and blown chunks all over myself!!!! And it would've turned off my interest in Ghostbusters, PERMANENTLY!!!!

Hey EgonsBabe - Bad news, it seems at the end of the XGB series they were together. Although as always with cartoons intended for older viewrs its often hard to tell, they rely on supposition and innuendo to convey subtel messages for muture adiences.  But, then too, like Red Green always says hope springs eternal  .

EgonsBabe, Janine and Egon got together at the end of the RGB episode Janine, You've Changed as well as others and even an episode of EGB. You're not a little jealous of her getting attention from Egon, are you?

Okay so maybe I am. But all jokes aside, She's just ANNOYING. Seriously, who'd date someone who sounds like they're hooked up to a helium tank? That'd be like, dating the guy who did the voice of Iago, Jafar's parrot on the Aladdin Disney Movie. *shudders* It reminds me of this science teacher I had in junior secondary.

Jackalman 99, being a die hard Pete fan I really wish you wouldn't call him an annoying man who screws everything he touches up. I have nothing to say about Eduardo though since I only watched the Back In The Saddle eps. I think (and if any other RGB Pete fans out there don't want me speaking for them please let me know) other die hard Pete fans will agree with me that it's not a matter of Pete getting anywhere with a woman whether it's Janine or not, but a matter of those women not seeing what all of us female RGB Pete fans see in him  . May sound corny I know, but trust me; a lot of, and probably all female RGB Pete fans, just don't think he's given the credit he deserves when it came to women on the series. He actually did get somewhere with Ann Lawson from the Murray ep. As far as I can tell she was the only one who saw what us female fans see in Pete .
And with that said I think I have completely strayed from the thread, lol. Sorry, but when I see something bad said about Pete I have to voice my thoughts and opinions, lol.

Let's not forget one other character who sees the real Peter Venkman: one Dana Barrett. Granted she's confused and ambivalent about him for years, but ultimately she's Venkman's One True Love in the same way Janine is Egon's.
(Hmmm...I wonder if Dana had been in the cartoon some of the female Venkman fans would hate her the way EgonsBabe hates Janine...)
Some of Venkman's actions can be explained by his own confusion (I'm specifiying RGB seasons 1-3, between GB1 and 2) about his feelings for Dana. She dumped him because he couldn't commit, and he's been living in hell ever since. But he can't admit that. So he continues to chase every woman he can, but maybe there's an element of unconscious sabotage at work. Underneath all the smarm Venkman is a great guy--intelligent, quick-witted, and extremely loyal to his friends. But not many women see under the smarm.
Though not supported by Official Canon (Dana is not even mentioned in RGB or XGB once), fan sentiment is that Venkman and Dana do work it out after GB2 and eventually marry.

Veedramon you win the cigar! lol. I know I would definitely hate Dana the way the EgonsBabe hates Janine, lol. Especially since she thought Pete was a creep and a jerk when she first met him. I'd in the end though be happy for Pete.
You win another cigar too! lol. All of us female RGB Pete fans (again any other female Pete fans on here not wanting me to speak for them yet again let me know) always knew that Pete is a great guy, intelligent, loyal, etc. and for those women in the series who couldn't see that, well their loss  . I personally don't think there could be any smarm to Pete. Another reason why I like RGB more then the movies (even though I like the movies as well) is because I would have lost my lunch at seeing him with Dana, lol; and it was always fun to see Pete charm a potential woman in the series and possibly not have anything happen because I know Pete'd have me hook, line and sinker with his charms

Hey PeterVenkmanFan, I agree with you. Peter is a cool guy. He influences my sarcastic side.
One more point I forgot to make, anyone(this applies to both men & women) who is so desparate for someone is in danger of being controlling in a relationship. Hell I wouldn't put up with that from ANY man. But that's because of my "I don't take no crap from anyone" side of me talking.
Anywayz, back to Peter. He's listed as my 2nd fave character on my fave characters list because his sarcasm is hella funny.

Thanks EgonsBabe . Although I prefer RGB Peter to the movie Peter. I just find it so wrong that he doesn't get the credit he deserves when it comes to women on the show seeing the great stuff about him. I know you first and foremost like Egon but I'm sure you still see what I mean.
Yeah Pete's sarcasm is hilarious, but most RGB Venkman fans also see his charming, intelligent, sensitive, funny, kind, loyal, etc. traits as what makes him an even better and great guy .

Brain_Reilly - Your right, I saw that ep, even though I'm an EGB fan and don't like the RGB at all. So this raises a question in my mind as to why E & J aren't already together when the 2nd animated series begins? Read all my Peter posts. I said I thought the cartoon Peter was a cutie, didn't I? . I suppose if they were real people, Egon would be a better boy friend, if YOU COULD GET HIM INTERESTED IN WOMEN AT ALL! But the Peter from the old cartoon was a hottie. Eduardo and Peter seem sexist to me, that part of them I don't like. They fixed Janine's voice in the 2nd toon series so it didn't have the quality of "chaulk being dragged across a blackboard" to it. And; while I don't look at women that way, I guess Janine was prettier in the 2nd TV show, at least she looked the same throughout the whole series . Although I guess most guy Ghostheads think Kylie is prettier than Janine.

And don't forget that in Now Comics #9-11, Peter did take a liking to Shannon Phillips, who was this kid that was featured in this 3-part series. He risked his life, and the others to save him. He seems to take a real liking to kids(see RGB ep. "Sticky Business").
Actually, Janine's voice sounded more like fingernails on a blackboard. *shudder!*
