The guys went to Dan’s house after they got something to eat. Bryan and Ed flopped onto the couch and Dan resumed working on some equipment. Bryan got to thinking and finally said something.


“Hey guys, I was thinking. Our response time to

the downtime area continues to be a problem. I looked at our records yesterday and found out that 80% of our calls are in a 15 mile radius around the Chicago loop.”

“Yeah, so? What’s the point?” asked Ed.

“The point is, to better serve our clients, we should move our headquarters closer downtown. Including the money we earned today, we should have enough for a down payment on a decent place.”

“Bryan has a good point there,” Dan said to Ed.

“Yeah, sorry. I’ll let you finish next time,” apologized Ed. “But your last couple ideas have been pretty bogus.”

“I told you not to listen to me when I am half asleep,” said Bryan as they all started laughing. “But seriously, I was reading the Tribune yesterday and saw an add for a auction of former city property like fire and police stations. I figure we can pick up a decent fire station and put some work into it and fix it up.”

“That sounds like a good start,” said Dan. “Why don’t you and Ed go up there tomorrow and see what there is. We’ll have to set a limit, though. I don’t need you guys picking up more than we can afford.”

“What, you don’t trust us?”

“Not with our hard earned money.”

“Thanks for the vote of confidence, Dan,” remarked Ed. “ Maybe next time I won’t test your new doohickeys.”

“Oh, low blow, low blow. Besides, I was just kidding.”

“Very funny.”

“I’m here all week.”
