Ghostbusters: Enter Hell - Chapter 4

Written By: Maverick

Winston scratched his brow as he looked up from his magazine, traffic was dead, absolutely nothing in sight, and he felt that he wouldn't able to make his quota for the month. He had been barely making his quota for the last few months, and he blamed the route that he had been given. Most of the night he guarded the City Morgue, keeping it safe from vandals and teenagers looking to stir up some trouble in the paranormal. "Ghostbusting." he thought, "What a rush." it had been quite some years since he hung up his proton pack and decide to catch the living instead of the dead, but nothing ever could match the adrenaline rush.

He stared through the windshield looking, waiting for his shift to end so he could go home and get some sleep. It was quite boring and he had read his magazine four times tonight. He looked over to the morgue, the lights were out and nothing was out of the ordinary, except for the lack of traffic and the strange wind that was moving across the city, stirring up litter and throwing it to and from. "New York... a Helluva town." Winston muttered to himself, he sipped his mug of coffee.

Winston watched a car drive by from his hidden spot in the alley. The car drove right up to the morgue and turned off it's headlights. Winston watched, hoping to get some action tonight, to throw someone in the slammer and get a rush that barely compared to that of Ghostbusting.

Winston started his engine and slowly pulled the car out of the alley, he wanted to make sure that whatever was going on was attempted, so that he'd have an excuse to stop him. He watched the man exit his car and quickly make his way to the morgue entrance, and just like that, as if he had someone watching over him, the door literally opened for him.

"Time to work." Winston grinned. He stopped the car by the entrance and got out, he made sure his gun was at his side.

The Morgue was dark as Alex made his way through it, he felt as though this place was familiar, he felt like he knew exactly where he was going... No, he did know exactly where he was going. He entered a room and looked around, in a darkened room a single light was on. and under that light was one of the freezers they used to preserve the human bodies for future examination. Alex pulled the freezer opened, a puff of smoke left and he smelled the scent of death, a terrible rotting smell that made him want to throw up. He pulled the table out, and there she was. The woman he loved.

"Let's get out of here Carla." Alex said to the corpse, "Let's go home." He grabbed Carla's body by and flung her over his shoulder, and he began to carry her out. He reached the door.

"Put her down kid." Winston said holding his baton, ready to club the man if needed.
"You don't understand!" Alex shouted at Winston.
"I understand you like the dead ones."
"No! you fool!" Alex shouted, dropping Carla to the floor. He lunged at Winston and threw a punch right in his face.
Winston fell to the ground, he sniffed, he could feel the blood dripping from his nose, he wondered if it was broken, but he had no more time to wonder what kind of damage had been done to his body as Alex kicked him in the face.

Alex threw Carla's body in the backseat of his car, "I'm so sorry for dropping you Carla... but You'll forgive me soon."

Winston limped out of the morgue, just in time to see Alex start his engine, with all of his remaining strength he ran to his patrol car.

Alex took off driving through the darkened streets of New York, with Winston quickly in pursuit. "What the hell is wrong with that boy!" Winston shouted. He reached for the CB and tried to call in the incident. There was only static.
