New/Improved Equipment

If you could invent some new 'busting equipment with Ray and Egon, and/or improve on current equipment, what would you do? I first of all never liked how EGB figures came with a 'small temporary containment unit', HELLO it's called a GHOST TRAP. The toy makers seem to overlook the already basic equipment out there. In the case of traps, more than one ghost can fit in it, and there are multiple traps, so a temp. containment unit seems useless. Although I did like the idea of the ghost beacon on EGB. I'd personally want to work on something like 'ecto gloves' that are less powerful proton throwers that attach at the finger tips, like Tom Cruise's computer gloves in Minority Report, so one could "hold" a ghost and experiment with it back at the lab.

interesting you mention that about the fingers. originally, the neutrona wands exteneded from the fingers/hands.

I got proton gloves on my GB2K characters. I'd just upgrade all the current equipment, as I've been doing. In fact, I just finished up my final designs for my upgraded pack.

DOsborn, yeah, I could only imagine the dual wrist mounted wands with the power switch belt buckle. . .that would have been very interesting. And Ecto, I'd love to see some pics of your upgraded equipment. I personally never liked that the packs needed to be more "powerful" in EGB because the breed of ghost was different. . .the original packs could always be adjusted. I do however see how GB's would want to make the packs more user friendly and less bulky; although that has always been the appeal of them for me.

Hehe well, Proton, then you'll hate mine 'cause I did a power boost thing too....I basically took the classic design, compressed internal components to make it lighter, added new lightweight material and totally changed the proton guns to hold a specialized power boosting cartidge that prevents overload.
You can see the rough sketches by clicking the WWW at the bottom of my posts, which's where the new pics will be in time. Maybe I'll even post up my GB2K shots.

I'd been tossing around some ideas for the Ghostbusters West Coast fan fics, and here's a few of them...
Ray becomes active with Ghostbusters again after XGB, and eventually restores the Proton Packs to their original exterior configuration, though the insides utilize all of the advances in computerization and electronics miniaturization made since the mid Eighties. There is an internal computer that can can provide virtually realtime telemetry to a GB headquarters host and can monitor the internal temperatures for signs of overheating or other malfunctions.
The PKE meter Version 3 has literally a million times the memory and computing power of the Eighties versions, as computer tech has advanced in quantum leaps since then. It can pretty much do just about anything a modern cel phone can do as far as internet linking, and can still detect ghosts too! I think the Ghostbusters DID make advancements ver the years. Think about it, the packs changed a little from GB1 to RGB, and then from RGB to GB2 (they are a little different from GB1). Although I like EGB, I tend to ignore it when it comes to continuity. I think that the basic proton pack design should always stay very close to GB1's design. Why? They were made by the 'busters themselves. Where the hecck did the EGB get the cash to put these streamlined packs together? Even by todays standards, those pack were awfully compact. Unbelievably streamlined for someone with a budget.
On a side note, I aways hated Kylie's proton gun. "Let's be predjudiced and give the girl the smallest gun."
I liked the Ghost Bomb from The Boogeyman Cometh, by I myself would invent a device that breaches the netherworld. Sure the RGBs already did it, by I would make it attach to the containment unit, so that the ghosts would be automatically stored there. No way you'd fill up that place anytime soon, and you could always recalibrate it so that it would send them to another dimension. The trick would be to make sure nothing can get through the doorway you're opening and into our world.

Hey, Vee, you have a similar idea to my PKEs. However, mine are actually cell-phone like with a flip top and screen and such. It will have 'net access as well as a direct link-up to the Tobin's Spirit Guide Database for on-site reference.
So far the only problem gear is the trap. The design was so perfect to begin with, all I can think of doing is making it thinner and lighter.
