Anyone got a good explantion for this?

Ever since I watched Real Ghostbusters as a wee nipper I have always wondered why they look so radically different in the cartoon. Citizen Ghost explained everything else concerning the costumes and stuff.
Was it because it made them more diverse and "unique" by having their appearance change (especially Egon) so radically?
Only Winston looks like his movie counter-part in RGB. Anybody care to enlighten?

There was one episode where the RGB went to supervise the making of the Ghostbusters Movie, and they were not the stars. They had a different cast. Don't remember the episode name, but I guess the reason is it is an entirely different set of people.

I just wondered why Egon had a bleach blonde pompadur with funny red glasses, and why ray was ginger.........
I don't really mind. Egon is still my fave even though he was given an odd haircut and silly glasses.

It's called "Likeness Rights." The cartoon studio couldn't get the likeness rights they had to go about creating a new look.

The reason is because the actors didn't want their cartoon counterparts to have their likesnesses, which is the case with most movie-based toons.

i know in a episode of the mib cartoon jay gets injected with truth serum and tells everyone about mib and at the end they show prveiews for a mib movie and kay and jay look like the actors who played them
