Why does Winston always get left out?

Like I said why deos Winston always get left out. I like Winston he's my favorite Ghostbuster (don't get me wrong I like all of them just Winston more). But for some reason he always seems to get left out. For example for the first movie you only had Peter, Ray, and Egon. Winston is the man. And frankly I would like to see more of the man. :|(

He always was just the token black guy in the movies. He got lot more depth in the cartoon, though, and hopefully, in this comic

Winston was given more time in the cartoons. But it is a shame. I could understand how much time he had in GB1. Having 3 scientists starting out and then needing to hire someone. But he should have had more time in GB2.

I know what you mean! he is great yet he is always left to do the little things and never really gets in with the story if you no what i mean! but then in the first one i didnt even know that the GB were loooking for some one new !

I always thought Winston did have more to do in GB2.

I always thought Winston had more to do in GB2 as well. I can see why he didn't have a lot to do in the first movie because he came into it about halfway through what was going on storywise and such. If anyone had less to do in the movies (more specifically GB2) I'd say it was Peter since as far as he was concerned he and Dana had their own little side story going on with the rekindled romance between them and all. Winston though did a lot in GB2 I thought. He was there when they were searching underground for the river of slime, he was there to save Egon and Ray in that developing/dark room. He just in general I thought had more to do in the second because establishing him as the fourth GB was done with and taken care of. Just my opinion though

Winston has a big role in the fort scene in Gb1

from storyboards i've seen in the past, i think it's safe to assume that originally Winston did have a bigger role in the first one... but I guess things got changed

Ya know, it woulda been better for him if they acknowledged his past as a Marine that they established in the novelization. He coulda been integral in more efficient gun designs.

Yeah it would have been great if they had done that with Winston, but more then likely due to time constraints and such on the film's length things had to be cut from the film and some of elaborating more on Winston's past and him doing more in the first movie had to be sadly cut out  . I'm just glad he was developed more in RGB, which led nicely into GB2
