I heard that when they first sat down to have a brainstorm about the Ghostbuster movie and were just about to begin writing the first draft, it was suggested that in addition to Dan, Harold, and Bill, Jim Belushi would play the part of Winston. When Belushi died, his good friend Dan Ackroyd decided to cut the Winston part out of the movie altogether. However the producers believed that there needed to be an "everyman" in the ghostbusters so they wanted Winston in the final script. Ackroyd eventually gave in and a small part was written for the Winston character. I'm lead to believe that if Belushi had lived all four Ghostbusters would have played a major role in the film. Is there any truth to this rumor? Thanks

Actually the original concept was that there were tons of Ghostbusters and it took place in the future, and the storyline focused on Belushi and Aykroyd as "Ghost Janitors" who basically did their daily routine. If you read the first script, or the 30 page treatment you'll see. The 30 page treatment is basiclaly 30 pages of busting nonestop.
