Okay, does anyone have a HD version of GB2 to the point where they can read the sign imbedded in the wall above the entrance where the guys walk in after the train? Is that the Pneumatic Transit sign or is it on the side wall like I've always believed? And depending on the answer, what does that sign say?

I believe the sign says, "Van Horne". It was a station on the pneumatic transit station.

1870-Alfred Ely Beach demonstrates the first "subway" in New York City: a pneumatic subway on 312 feet of track built illegally under Broadway near City Hall in Manhattan. Lack of legislative support and a stock market crash prevent investors from backing Beach's invention, and the project proves a failure.
Not quite First Avenue, is it?
What Van Horne is is still a mystery.
