Ever dislike modern life?

Think about it, if you lived say 12-30 thousand years ago, there would be no machines, no slaving jobs and a lot less structure...the world would still be green and we'd all still be scavenger/hunters operating in groups...No cash registers, no roads; nothing. Nothing but raw instinct and intuition. Stereotypical images (ie, fashion, wealth, etc.) would be non existant...only the skills and the need to survive and breed too preserve life. It would be a lot different than it is today, that's for sure. Now, have you ever wished you lived long ago in times we know very little about? I know I have and, given the choice, I'd take that over modern life any time.

Sure! I love living a shorter life and having lots of diseases and less luxuries!

I think I'd just would rather go back to the 80's or possibly even the 50's

Me neither, I'm not quite yet ready to go back to the days of the "Cro-Magnon", but I would however like to live in the 1920's. No STD's, no mass murdering, no extensive nuclear weapons, Al Capone making headlines, and Jazz is the top 40 music.

I'd like to live sometime in the 20th century. As evil as it sounds, perhaps in the 40s so I could, even if I had to fight, do my part in saving humanity, or maybe the 60s-80s for the wild times they offered. 20s are good like evil_toaster said. Maybe I can re-live The Great Gatsby.

The thing I hate about modern life is all the new boring dance music. Like Scooter. What ever happened to the good old Blues?

Speaking as a black man, there is no way in hell that I'd want to live in the past. 500+ years of bigotry, oppression, and struggle isn't something that I'd want to get into. Modern times are fine for me.

Too an extent Id love to live not in old ages but in a more simplified society. A society where there is no plastic surgery, high fashion, just decent clothes that look cool but dont cost alot just for the hell of it. Smaller houses and buildings. Less Cars and more efficient transportation. These are all very possible ideals for us to bring back. Hopefully we can eventually learn before we kill nature to the point of no return. And I do beleive it is possible. If we can kill off a species, I beleive we can kill them all off. Also, the other thing is, you said ohh no a world without luxuries Slim Slimer(not making an attack dude, just so you know.)
You have to think about, do we really need all those luxuries. I mean I like taking showers and stuff, but do we really need cologne, or to take as many showers. Do we really need 3 kinds of plastic wrapping on everything we buy. Do we really all need to drive cars instead of motorcycles for most of us. I mean the world makes us drive cars to work because if we drive a motorcycle our hair would get a little messed up and our clothes might be wrinkled at that would be "unprofessional." What we need to do most of all is change or destroy if it is at all possible, alot of sociocultural stereotypes and norms.

it would be great to live several hundred years ago...
I plan on heading into the woods this summer, with nothing but some knives and other tools, and living off of nature for a week.
if you are interested in that kind of stuff I would like to reccomend the book How To Stay Alive In The Woods by Bradford Angier, its an excelent guide on how to live off of the woods...
