any thoughts on this? so far, the actor doesn't look much like frank castle. sandly blonde hair? isn't he supposed to be italian?!?!?! anyway, i'll give it chance.

whoah. Hope its better than that OTHER Punisher movie lol. He doesn't look very scary but hey, I'll give'em a shot!

The actor looks no hecll, but his costume actually has the skull on it, unlike the 1990 version that was released.

Dolph Lundgren looked more like Frank Castle if ya ask me. Although this new guys' costume is pretty good. I have really high hopes for this movie, and Marvel hasn't failed us yet, so I'm getting my hopes up!
P.S. I too think he should dye his hair black.

At this point, all we can do is hope. This is the director's directorial attempt.
He was a writer before hand and his work was far from exlempary (he wrote Armageddon    ), but for some reason he is highly credited by the Hollywood powers. Probably because his scripts make money. Who knows, he might be a terrible writer and a good director. We can only hope.
As far as Thomas Lane, I think he will do well as The Punisher. I think he has the acting talent to pull it off.

Keep in mind, so far Marvel has proved every last fanboy and nay-sayer wrong. People thought Toby Mcguire would have sucked as Spider-Man, but he didn't and that movie went on to become a box office mega-hit. "Blade" grossed millions of dollars. Originally, studio heads weren't to sure about making a film with a black man as the center piece of a multi-million dollar action flick; moreover, using Wesley Snipes...a lesser-known, credited movie star/martial artist as the brooding hero. Yet, Blade also became a popular hit that spawned a sequel and grossed more money than the first film...a feat not often acheived with hollywood sequels. "X-Men"...Hugh Jackman...nuff' said. If anything, Marvel has made a nice reputaion for themselves for hiring great writers and directors that bring their comic book characters to life. And each movie catapulted virtually unknown actors to fame and superstar status. Remember water cooler conversations like this..."Who's that "Cider House Rules" kid?" "Hugh who?" "Afleck sucks, but he really nailed that Daredevil character!" "Oh, Isn't it cool that this Eric Bana guy has a last name that sounds close to Bruce Banner? He's Australian, right?" That's what people have said in the past. Now, let's take a better look at "The Punisher". The guy who Marvel has picked to play this merciless vigilante hero is blonde, looks like a pretty-boy, and seems like he wouldn't know how to fire a rifle much less know how to roller-blade down a shallow hill. But, I'm willing to bet that once again Marvel knows exactly what they are doing. So, let's just sit back and not worry about anything, and let Marvel do what they do best...making our fanboy and childhood fantasies come true by bringing us into the the spectacular world of Marvel Comics.

Ya know, the 1990 version wasn't ALL bad. I mean, it was bad, but the premise was on track. I think they should have stuck a little closer to the comic and they would have had a better hit on their hands.
Hey, me and some friends been toying with this idea: instead of a Punisher movie, why not introduce Punisher in a DD sequel and we can replay the classic P/DD fight where DD takes a slug to the gut? Throw in Kingpin and Jigsaw and I think that'd be one helluva blockbuster right there. Hey, maybe even Typhoid Mary.

ash, punisher's real name is castliogne or something like that.
but i have a retort for the dying hair people, do you know hair color, can be different for every person? im partially norwegian, but my hair is brown. i know a jewish girl with blonde hair. its not too out of the realm of possiblity an italian person could have blonde hair. cripes. and big flippin deal onthe skull. he's a gun man. a vigilante. all you need to know thats the punisher is his pissed off look, and his guns. as well as the big pile of dead bodies.
as for my opinion of the movie based on that picture? man its going to suck monkey nuts. dolph lundgren's punisher was great, just not given any credit. so my collection is happy with dolph.
this new one is campitycrapcamp.

The Punisher's full name is Frank Castiglione. He probably changed it because he hates the Italian mob so much (I mean after all, they did kill his family).
