Today (Saturday) I checked out the Pittsburgh Comicon with a friend of mine when we ran into 3 guys dressed in full ghostbuster costumes. They were wearing fulled equipped flightsuits (name tags, patch, hose, elbow pads) and excellently crafted packs with working lights. And here I was walking around with just my GB tanktop and jeans. Who were these people? Their costumes were way too good to not be part of the GB community.

I got my picture taken with them, so as soon as the film gets developed, I'll probably scan the pic.

That's pretty cool, Jen. It'd be interesting to find out just who those boys in gray were though. And on a side note I really I want to go to the Motor City Comicon in Detriot!

Maybe they're afraid you'll clobber them for getting near Jen, Bo.

I live near Pittsburgh and I think I met those guys...or least one of them. I was at the movies and up in line there was this guy dressed in full GB uniform. I went up to him to ask him what was up, because I knew damn well there wasn't a GB3. He said, "No problem, just on a routine spook check." After we exchanged GB lines, he told me he and two other guys built them and so on. He asked if I could see anything wrong with the costume, I told him he needed a few things, elbow pads and such. Anyhow, I do believe that's who you saw. I have their name written down somewhere.

Thanks MuthaPussBucket. So they aren't board patrons? You wouldn't happen to live out in/past the Monroeville area?

I didn't exchange much with them, complimented on their packs and pointed out how much "chick magnet-y" they were when in their uniforms. (The were always being stopped by girls who wanted pictures and such) the one replied "No kidding, we've been getting stopped all day."

Indeed, the awesome drawing power of Ghostbusters. smile

That's awesome. Through a strange turn of events, I ended up seeing a copy of Dr. Gangrene's show out of Tennesee when he was at the convention there, and there was a guy in full dress behind him - I still haven't found out who that was.

As usual there is discussion of a full convention, but a few of us are promoting the idea of ghostheads finding general cons in their area and meeting up there.

I was there and was drooling with envy over the accuacy of the packs. They were, in a word, beautiful. One of the four, that's right FOUR, had their pack rigged with the power-up sounds.

I talked to them, exchanged ideas and who we were on the GB.net board, etc. I can't remember all of them, but I do remember "BusterofGhosts." Wherever you are, man, thanks again.

Plus, I went all around the damn con, trying to find issues of the RGB comic... very little luck. The last guy I asked was near the entrance, and he was a godsend. He had damn near the entire first volume, as well as two of the three issues of the GBII adaptation.

I also talked with the guys at the Pallisades Toys booth about GB toys, and he said that they are kicking the idea of a new toy line around. Only problem is, they can't do the likenesses of Akroyd and Murray. Bill Murray will not sign off his likeness for a toy line, so that explains why we'll never see "Stripes" figures, himself from Space Jam, or, gods forbid, Bosley from the "Charlie's Angels" movie. But, rest assured, he said that a lot of people at Pallisades DO want GB figs.

All in all, it was an excellent Con. As soon as I get the photos developed, I'll be able to send them to, well... Here! GB.net if you like.

cliff brings up an interesting point.... why is the likeness of aykroyd so hard to get for GB figs? he has several blues bros. and conhead figs.

anyway, back on topic. i'd love to see what these guys have built.

Well, to get a little OT again...

Perhaps Mr. Akroyd didn't like the likeness that they gave him of Elwood from BB2000. That could be a reason as to why the likeness rights are in, shall we say, limbo.

On a side note...

Jen Spengler, you were there? Hmmmm... it's possible we could have crossed paths several times...

That'd have been kooky. My friend and I were there around 2-4 on Saturday. I was wearing a rainbow-stripe hoodie and a Hot Topic GB tank top. Check out my GB.net profile for a pic. My hair is a little darker now, but other than that its fairly accurate.

Hmmmm...

Not too sure if I did see you... I did see a guy wearing a shirt with a HUGE GB logo on the back though.... Were you with him?

I, on the other hand, was wearing fairly nondescript clothes: Cargo pants, combat boots, dark t-shirt, green plaid flannel shirt, and a backpack as well. I kinda looked like Kevin Smith (unruly dark hair, beard, glasses), and my friend looked like he was ready for his next NERO/PRO tourney: rennissance boots, short sleeved overcoat, with plastic snaps on the front.

I was actually told that I looked a LOT like Mr. Smith by Jason "Deep Fried" Yungbluth.

Well, as soon as I get the photos developed, I'll send one to you, if you want.

Hehe, nope, I wasn't with that guy, and I don't think I saw that guy either.
I did see someone similar to your description hanging around George Parez's table for a while, last I had seen before I left this individual was getting a portrait done(?) by said artist.

Bo had sent one of the 4 busters an email, but I don't think he's heard back from him yet.

Nope. I didn't get to meet Perez until, like, the very end, and he was in Artists' Alley.

We did hang out at Mike Turner's "Halo/Aspen" booth and, um... Well, we kept getting distracted by Jim Balent's booth. shocked (Hot chicks in spandex! Woo!) smile

Plus, I think I was the only one asking around for Dave DeVries. See, I met him a few years ago, and we stood there catching up for a few minutes.

But I am getting my photos to Wal*Mart to get them developed.

I think I know the guy you're talking aboput, though. Was he wearing a "Bluntman" Logo t-shirt as well as a backwards cap?
