Why do or dont you hate rap?

Im just wondering. I personally dont hate rap. And to let you know, hiphop is more than rap. Rap is just the music part of hiphop.

well if you put it like that then i hate hip hop, i dont really like it because its all "my bitches my hos" and its not real music, its a freaking beat box, these people cant play real music they use computers

Okay, well apparently youve never heard the roots, or jurassic 5, or the Beastie Boys among others. The Roots have a drummer, a guitar player, and a bass player.

yeah it really depends on what you're listening to
Personally, it's never really interested me. I've never found much to relate to in any of it. but I've heard good things about Jurassic 5 so I probably need to go listen to some. Other than that, I've pretty much seen it as one of the lowest forms of musical expression compared to what can be done out there. Some people experiment and make it an innovative artform others do the same tired stuff and look like complete idiots. But yeah if there's guys playing instruments I'll give it more of a chance definetly.
I'd rather watch a rap act with live musicians over a lifeless loop anyday. What really gets annoying is when there's one rapper and then like 5 or 6 other guys on stage that are just there to say "yeaahh" "c'mon!" "what?" For the most part, it's just never done anything for me as far as being exciting innovative or full of life. To me, it gets boring and repetitive and most of the subject matter just gets tiresome really fast.
But if anybody can recommend some good stuff from rap acts that don't suck(Jurassic 5 etc), then yes I will listen. I'm always trying to expand my musical pallette so I'll give anything a chance. Even aside from all the mainstream rap, I've just never been able to get into it and will probably never be something I listen to on a regular basis. All the terrible stuff is popular. lol There's good rap and bad rap. I even get bored by some of the music alone. Terribly tedious. Occasionally there's something really cool.
Sometimes if I don't change the channel fast enough, I can feel my brain cells being killed!!! Just my personal thoughts though. I like to listen to a lot of stuff that makes ya think so no. For the most part, I think rap is very unintelligent, especially musically. I don't forsee any major innovations in the immediate future.
ADDITION like Ghostbusters says below, it just doesn't appeal to some people.

I don't like or listen to rap mainly because that type of music doesn't appeal to me at all, but in the end it's all a personal preference whether you like it or not.
I hate it when people go around saying certain music is cr@p etc such as saying Eminem is rubbish. Just because a person doesn't like him it doesn't mean they can say he is rubbish because if he were actually rubbish he would have no fans at all and I can assure you he has plenty. If Eminem is so rubbish why would he be so popular?

its just not my cup of tea. its all about bitches, money, gang wars and so on. it holds no appeal for me at all. the videos are all the same. black women half naked prancing around, cars, money, you know the drill. i prefer the Beatles.

I don't really have in interest in modern music or Rap. Alot of it is great, but I'm to lazy to go out and buy some of it/download it. Some rap was good. Like RUNDMC, they did great with that Ghostbusters remix. But I really DON'T like hearing sexist, racist, homicidal vulgar remarks in most of today's rap.
Now when it comes to Oldies, I'm a bit of an expert. I like some Disco (Stop Laughing at me, you know you like it  .), the Beach Boys, Marvin Gaye, Four Tops, Temptations, Supremes, Bee Gees, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Animals, B.J. Thomas, Billy Joel, Buddy Holly, Crosby, Stills, & Nash, Chuck Berry, Drifters, Elvis, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Gary Puckette, Jackson Five, Herman's Hermits, Lesley Gore, Rascals, Roy Orbison, Sam Cooke, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Tommy James & The Shondells, Turtles, and The Fifth Dimension.

The only rap I've been exposed to is the stereotypical rap. I refer to the rap about big butts, gang wars, murder, sex etc. Those kind of lyrics do not make for good music.
In fact, the rap style doesn't interest me too much. Unless we're talking rap-rock in the style of Linkin Park or Papa Roach. Then I'm there. But, no, street rap is crap.

I only like the old stuff mostly 2pac I love 2pac and master P bone thugs n harmoney are AWESOME but all this new crap is horrible "Party Rap" yuck I hate Jayz Nelly ja rule can all go live in the ghetto like pac and biggie and all them old school rappers did when they were young, and then thay can come back and write some real songs.

I like some rap like Beastie Boys, but "ghetto rap" is terrible. Talking about killing ppl, smoking drugs, and having sex in the back of cars doesnt make for good lyrics.
