i have had this fanfic idea for quite some time but never got around to do it heres a preview. maybe some interest will help me finally get going
"After their final bust at a local gym, the remaing three ghostbusters decide to retire. Egon gets a job as a parapsycology profesor at the same university were he, Peter, and Ray were thrown out. Winston and Ray open the fire house up as a museum. When Egon takes his class (only about three people) along with Winston and Ray to observe an astrological event something goes terribly wrong. By some coincedence they cross paths with Peter and Danna on their getaway vacation. The ghostbusters must reunite and join with a new generation to save the world from a spectre with a demented sense of humor"
Note: this could basically be a gb3. what i want to do is gradually develope the "new generation" so that they seem just an intrical part of the team as our beloved cast instead of just throwing them in with protons blasting.
any imput would be great.

Or you could make it a prequel to EGB, saying that they helped out the old GB before later becoming apart of the business on their own... just a thought.

It wouldn't work as a EGB prequel, it would contradict the canon history, and in the fanfic biz, canon facts should be kept in mind.

i have a question then. Is there any way to go around the egb?
Perhaps if it is clear that this story takes place from the movie's perspective and it doesn't have anything to do with either cartoon. Although i could rework the idea so the younger generation would be the same as the egb's i really don't know their personality's and characters making it difficult to write a good story.

There were about 10 years between the RGB team splitting up and the EGB team forming. Why not just have your fic happen sometime in those ten years?
It's too bad you never saw EGB. Relatively few people on this site actually like it, as far as I can tell. I was a fan of RGB first, but actually came to like EGB more. Anyway, you're right. It's probably not a good idea to include the EGBs if you've never even met them.
That would be interesting - and original, I think - if you wrote a fic about what happened in that ten year gap.
