I was watching a Re-Run of an episode from SNL earlier today hosted by John Goodman. This got me to thinking, what if, in the event Bill Murray really doesn't want a third GB film made, they replaced Venkman will a new character played by John Goodman. I was thinking he could maybe be Ray's brother Nate (Nathan) Stantz. Obviously we know the Ackroyd and Goodman have an excellent chemistry together worked together on BB2002, but more than that, I think John could bring back that child-like appreciation to the Franchise that all of us Ghostheads have. Any thoughts?

Goodman didnt ruin The Blues Brothers. The Blues Brothers died with John Belushi. Goodman would be pretty hilarious but he seems to much like Akyroyd. Goodman would have to be more like when he played roseannes husband.

Goodman is a great actor. He gets along wonderfully with Dan. Goodman would be great, I loved his character in Roseanne. Such a great show.

i dont think Goodman would be like...a well replacement for Murray because if u are going to replace him, you would need him to be the same kind of a person and i dont think Goodman could pull of the laid back kind of a guy

Unless Bill Murray signed on for the project it wouldnt be worth doing.
To tell you the truth I would be dissapointed if any of the following werent included. Plus Im putting them in order of importance imo.
most important to least
1 Bill Murray/Dan Akroyd
2 Harold Ramis/Ivan Reitman
3 Sigourney Weaver
4 Rick Moranis
5 Ernie Hudson
6 Annie Potts
7 The Mayor (Lenny)
8 Slimer

despite the fact that Bill Murray is blind for not wanting gb3, and Goodman is a great actor and id love to see him with a pack on, he could never replace Murray...

I dont know if Goodman would be the best Ghostbuster given his age. He is the same age as Aykroyd which is fifty. Goodman would make a great cameo but any new ghostbusters will most likely be much younger.

Good idea, John Goodman is great!
If GB3 goes ahead, I'd also love to see Harris Yulin back again.

This idea is on par with "Jurassic Park 3." Just... wrong. I admit that Goodman is a good actor, especially in "Monsters Inc.," but to see him strap on the pack and bust ghosts...
It's like trying to replace Oz with Tara on "BTVS." In my opinoin, it didn't work, it still isn't working.
