It seems to me that everyone has ideas about the GB3 plots, and no two are the same!
The most populer are Sam Hain and the Devil, but I've even heard of "Revenge of The Terror Dogs"
So what I say is, if you have a plot idea for GB3 put it here.
What youy need is to keep it simple,
give us the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHY and WHEN.
And the title, i just figure it would be easier to have one universal posting for all plot ideas. And most of the time people come up with good ideas but no way to expand on them, so forcing people to use the 5 W's is a way to do that!

I asked this my self and posted a long while ago, you are right; the ideas are as diverse as we are. But when I posted I left out my idea, and because of it some people got mad. so here it is:
I would like to see a new team, with at least two of them modeled after the extreme Ghostbusters. However I think the old team should stay, maybe as the main characters in the beginning and slowly trade off. I also think it would be interesting to see a concentrated hatred of the towns folk towards the teams, due to all of the rage and loathing from the ghost they have collected over the years. Eventually this hatred would consume the city. And take a life of its own in the form of a ghost.

I'm only going to be repeating myself but i'm going to type this plot again only because I love it so much! I'd go nuts if this plot were in the GB3 movie! Even though I'd go nuts with any new GB movie.
Here is a cool plot. After the incedent in the first movie and Dana & Luis were saved from being terradogs. However, without anyone suspecting there is a ghost sleeping dorment, in each of them. Then something happenes to awaken these ghosts and bringback/revive GOZAR for a showdown of huge perportion!!! I read hell is supposed to fill up and explode in the 3rd movie, so perhaps this kind of impact could "awaken" the dorment spirits. AHHHHH!!!

Found this site after watching Ghostbusters II...thought I'd add my 2 cents...Here's a plot idea..
All the events in the previous 2 films have been building up to a major climax...Gozar from the 1st film and that guy from the 2nd film are all reincarnations of the one guy (or master demon or whatever) who has been attempting to open the gates of hell and let demons roam the earth...but has failed up till now. In the 3rd and final film, he shows himself for what he truly is, but this time the Ghostbusters have to deal with some global ghostbusting, so the recruit volunteers internationally who'll help them out...it's all a battle to fight the ghosts until they reach the final showdown...the battle against the master demon who is in an unknown place which adds a nice sub-plot...to find where the place is. The usual guys are all there...the idiot from the first film (the guy who tried to shut them down) makes a reappearance who thinks they should get the US military involved (lot of good they do)...And that slime ghost makes a nice appearance...
In the end, the GB kill the bad guys...Venkman get's married to that Aliens chick and the world is safe again...

this is a true story mind you
history:
the town exists, the name of the town i cant remember, but it WAS risen in the 1800's. It was very quiet happy town and a man found gold in the banks of the river there. a sort of 'gold fever' ran through and a bunch of people went there from all over the world leaving family behind and selling everything in hopes of stricking rich. a small handfull of people found something, and the people were very depressed and bitter because they had foolishly risked everything andfound nothing. the people of this town became mean and hateful and were forced to live there the rest of their lives because they didnt have enough money to go back to where they came from. They died there, a bitter people very resentful and jealous of people who got something. Now, whoever goes to the town and takes something home with them, gets cursed until the person cant take it anymore and sends it back to the town in hopes that the curse will be lifted.
It really is a true story. what i think is that ray should drag the rest down there for a vacation and they end up leaving early for a major bust in NY, and one of them accidentally takes something or thinks the curse is bogus and takes something and the ghostbusters become cursed.
think of the possibilities... alll the bad stuff that could happen to them and everything...
anybody wanna work on it with me? Heheh.... ghostbusters3 script written by the fans, can you imagine?
the best part, i think, is that the story is true which would make the script all the more believeable.
It answers why, when and what, where and who isnt a problem
what do you think?

i'm still thinking up the details of my idea but i just wanted to mention that one the new guy really needs to learn his stuff, and he's in the right place to learn. and two your curse, sorry forgot your name, idea sounds good, but it's more of an episode thing. it would work for a new ep. of RGB but remember GBII? i loved it but it wasn't as good as the first because it was too much like just another ep. would make a good fan fic though.

My idea is pretty much the same as RedVaporFantasm`s. The only difference is i think it should be Oscar who has the inner ghost. Dana had a ghost put in her by Gozer, and when Oscar was born it left her body through him. It has stayed inside him for the right time, which is now. After it leaves his body 3 times, casuing much terror and destruction, Gozer`s gates are opened again and he returns.
The new GB`s could be one of Ray`s bookstore customers who is really into the paranormal. Another could be Egons nephew. And yet another could be another person that they decide to hire.
I figure that is just a basic idea.
.......by the way, my name is based on the ghost that comes up from the subway in the first movie...

the whole concept of gb3 is like any sequal idea, and that is that it will usually not work good. we've all seen sequals of movies, and we've all noted that the sequals usually suck. gb2 was on of the exceptions (so was the empire strkes back and attack of the clones, if you're into that kinda thing). anyway, plot idea. my friend subway_ghost has a good concept going for it. at this point, you'd most likely need new ghostbusters due to plenty of reasons. i hope everyone has talked about and agrees that they need to cast unknowns for the parts. but you can't really reuse and rescrap old ideas, like using gozer and vigo in the third. but you'd probably need gozer coming back to open the gates for a new evil spirit, although the devil isn't really a good idea due to the fact that all those christian people would be meanies about it. ghostbusters has slightly been biblical, and if you read the bible, you realize that cain, the first murderer, is going to take over hell in the end, right? well, this could take place after the uprising of cain. the spawn of gozer, which would reside in oscar, would come out and release havoc on the world, much as said above, as a way to signify that hell has a new ruler, and opens the gateways for cain to come back (ugh, now it reminds me of robocop2, a really bad sequal). i'm not providing this information as a plot, merely an add on plot to the other two above. they just can't do anything stupid though, like bring back stay puft, and slimer should be meaner like in the original. louis should also be a ghostbuster, you know, because of his high ambition in gb2. it wouldn't make it dumb, i don't think. also, the plot shouldn't start out like gb2, where they were sued like a son of a felt tip pen. unemployment perhaps? after all, you remove all spirits, you remove any job. i'd say the havoc should be released all over the world, but that'd get too confusing.
also, dude up above who's name i forgot, how come you can't remember any names of anybody from the movie?
taxi ghost was the ghost who was a taxi driver in the first movie.

It's pretty simple, the new GB's have to be actors people haven't seen before. That way they will get a fresh start and people won`t compare them with other characters. (example will smith: "hey its the fresh prince or J or something")
If they make a GB3 it needs to be made by the same people who made the first two movies otherwise it will lose its original feel (example batman: after the first two movies, they got a new director and it lost its dark gothic feel). If I have to wait, I will wait for GB3, so it can be done right. I don't wanna walk out of the movie theatre after seeing it and say "Man, that movie wasn't all that great...."

Timothy Banks (David Duchobney) Dr. Spengler's (Harold Ramis) new pupil discovers that an ancient evil that has boiled under the earth for centuries has awaken, and has plans to make the world his dark land. Now the GHOSTBUSTERS have to hire some new souls to sack the ghosts that terrorize new York, and save the world!

The actors you suggest would draw attention away from the story because about a billion teen girls would "ooh" and "ahh" over the actors.

same original actors, maybe a few lesser but still well known (if that made sense) to bring some attention to a new audience
im thinking that the ghostbusters would still be in business in this one, and everyone but ray wants to add a few new members to the group. louis also try's to keep it at the orginal 5 as he refers to it, he thinks he can carry the weight of the team on his shoulders. all of them but egon are pushing for newer, more powerful equipment. jack black, (may be getting to far up the pop ladder) would play a crazy ghostbusting fan who wants to be one and follows them to every bust, trying to show them what he can do. with todays effects i figure slimer could be a bigger part of the movie, maybe not though. when their first bust of the movie takes place, the affects of aging take their toll. all of the busters are moving slow and it takes forever to catch a class one. peter takes the trap and is walking to show all the bystanders, when a glich occurs in the trap doors. they open up, and peter gets sucked in, crossing over the the underworld. with peter gone, ray gives in to the demands for new members, and adds three to them
steve zahn(saving silverman, joyride)
jason shwartzmen (rushmore(with bill murray), slackers)
wayne brady (whose line is it anyway?, played winston in the live universal shows)
egon gives in to making new equipment as well, and makes something like in rgb, but with differences. throughout the movie, peter comes back and warns the guys of hades planning an end to the world, but the guys can't tell its him for some reason
for a subplot i figured the guys would have some competition, a younger, better equiped group that adds fuel to the tension between the guys
needs work, i know, maybe someone could help get the kinks out of it
