Good question. Part of me hopes that she is but part of me doesn't. What about Oscar?

Whether Dana will be in the new comic has been a subject of debate....in both the RGB and the "pure" GB2 timelines she and Venkman break up not long after the battle with Gozer, but Red and company are charting a different path. So who knows?
On the one hand, having Dana not there opens the way for "Venkman on the prowl" comedy as he chases the women he meets...but having Venkman happy in a relationship for a change could make a good contrast.
I'm not shy about being an RGB partisan on most "movie vs. cartoon version" issues, but it always really annoyed me that Dana wasn't even mentioned once during the six years the show ran. Even if Dana isn't in the comic, show Venkman dealing with it. Make references to her! Even if it's a careless comment from Ray once in a while ("Oh...Venkman...I...I'm sorry, I....I just forgot...")
Oscar is pretty tied into the GB2 "future" that Red has indicated he will not neccessarily be moving towards. But one really interesting twist would be to have Venkman and Dana work out this time, get married, and she gives birth...to Oscar Venkman . How's that idea?

I think that someone should ask Peter how Dana's doing and he says something like 'I dumped that bitch,' and that's all that's mentioned of her.

the new GB comic takes place in 2003..and will ignore the events of RGB and GB2(very hard to do isnt it?) From what I understand the comic wont say GB2 never happened..it just wont be mentioned.

One thing I've always hated about GB2 is that Dana and Peter had split up. After GB1 they should have just lived happily ever after. I don't know why Oscar couldn't have just been Peter's kid - the story would have worked the same.
I say have Peter and Dana as a couple in the comic.

I think Veedramon has something with the marriage thing. I would kind of like to see a little bit of both (in a sense). Dana would still be in it but it would be like a constant off and on relationship battle which goes through out the series. For example, for a couple issues everything's fine with the two as a happy couple but then they have a petty argument and "break up" (you know, just get mad at each other and stop talking) which is where peter could chase anyone in a skirt which would make some good comedy and then they would end up kissing and making up. So in a way we could have two in one.

Id like to see Dana. She was a really good character that would seem relatively easy to flex out in the comics.

I'm pretty sure I was the first to lobby for the inclusion of Dana Barret on the old "It's Coming!" thread. So let me do so again. Dana needs to be in this title. She's the piviotal character in both films! The story opportunities for an off again/on again relationship with Venkman are too good to pass up. Imagine it, Peter meets a new hot babe on a case, and a few weeks later Dana walks back into his life. This could lead to all kinds of sexual tension that has tremendous comedic potential.

i hope im not the first to notice that the central event in each movie that "got the ball rolling" happened to her. (Zuul in the fridge, slime in the sidewalk) Without her who knows what would have happened

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the comic supposed to take place right after the first movie? If that's the case, Peter and Dana would be dating for at least some amount of time (however unspecified). If that's the case, perhaps the comic will show the relationship evolve, then break down.
After all, the RGB episodes were only 22 minutes each, and were action pieces targeted towards the Saturday morning cartoon crowd. They were going to focus more on ghost busting, not character development elements as a romance or dealing with a break-up.
As for GB2, I would like to see some elements of it added to the comic (Vigo, Oscar, Janosz, mood slime, Slime Blowers) since I would consider it more of the "official" events, but at the same time, I don't think four out of work Ghostbusters would make for a very interesting comic. Perhaps cheat and revise the history just a little bit.
All in all, though, I'm looking forward to this comic.

Thats very true. Considering the comic takes place directly after the movie, and 88mph studios would like to keep the comic as much like the original movie as possible. So there will be a good chance of us seeing her in the new comics.
