The Do's and Don'ts of the paranormal forum.
Since PC apparently doesn't want his Dos and Don'ts up, I have revised my own list for folks to take a look at and hopefully follow.
Dont Use Ghostbuster Quotes:
This one is straight forward, I know this is a GB message board, but I like to think the paranormal forum can take some distance from the films. Im tired of hearing people making reference to GB quotes in the paranormal forum, its entirely unnecessary and will cause people to not take you seriously. And no Proton Packs are not real, nor can they be duplicated, No ghost traps are not real nor can they be duplicated, no Containment units are not real nor can they be duplicated. please stay realistic.
Please Be Realistic When Posting:
That's right folks keep it realistic, no one wants to hear about man eating gerbils, or your plans on using super soakers filled with holy water to fight demons, Its a simple request and not to much to ask for, if you want to get respect in this forum be realistic. I will refer you to Kwilliams thread on this topic: Be Realistic When Posting!
If You Have a Theory or Opinion on Something, Explain It!:
Ok simple, if you feel a certain way on a topic such as you believe ghosts don't exist because god does, or you think your house may be haunted, EXPLAIN YOURSELF! please just don't leave us out in the cold on why you feel this way. Yes we are here to share our ideas on the paranormal but part of that is explaining why we have these ideas and beliefs in the paranormal.
The Paranormal Is 90% theory and 10% Fact (if that):
Just as the title says, the paranormal is 90% theory and 10% fact (if that) therefore don't act like you know it all and everyone else is wrong, because in this field of study all one can really have is theories and very little fact, while some theory may sound more plausible than others it doesn't give you the right to completely dog another member about his theory, unless there theory is extremely unrealistic. So basically this rule is to promote the respect of others in this forum.
Feel Free to Join In:
If you have something legitimate to say, then feel free to get in on the posting. Its true some of us on the boards maybe have researched a little more than some of you into the paranormal, but what you have to say still counts, don't be intimidated by any of the thread topics in the forum, and just because most of us hard-core paranormal enthusiasts want this silliness of unrealistic posting and GB quotes to end in the paranormal forum, doesn't mean we don't want some new faces to join in the convos and share there thoughts on the subjects, just adhere to the rules and have fun.
Attention Seekers:
Please if your looking for attention, (and I have seen a few threads like this or I wouldn't have mentioned it) then don't bother posting, if you want to make something up about how your friend is possessed by a demon blah blah blah, or bigfoot lives in your shed then you can just take off now cause no one wants to waste there time with you.
please just use common sense when posting in this forum, and everything should be cool.
