I think someone is mixing up their Christian references.
The "nine gates of hell" is actually the nine layers of hell. Dante makes no mention of any gates of hell except the BIG one, (you know, the one that says "Abandon all hope, Ye who enter here") and the gates to Dis, the city of Hell. Dante got into Hell by following a dead Greek poet.
The reference to "the seven gates" is probably a reference to the citadel of reason in Limbo, since he talks of passing the gates with the sages. I'll have to re-read it later.
But in reply to the actual topic, (something which no one seems to be doing anymore) I'd say there'd be a gate somewhere in Greece. After all, Heracles, Orpheus, and Oddesyus all waltzed into the place. I'd also speculate one in the South; if you look at American Southern folk tales Old Nick (aka Satan) tends to pop up in these parts a lot, and he doesn't strike me as the sort that enjoys frequent flying.

Apologies for what I'm assuming is a misunderstanding, but I wasn't referring to the Bible. My post was in response to KWilliams post when he mentioned Dante's Comedia, specifically Inferno, as a possible reference to the seven gates of Hell. I was mearly correcting him, as there is only reference to one gate of Hell (Inferno, Canto III) and the gates of Dis, the city of Hell (Inferno, Canto VIII-IX). In Dante's poem, Hell is divided into nine circles: the first seven have the sinners who commited crimes of bestiality, the eigth circle contained fraudulant sinners, and the ninth circle was reserved for traitors. The citadel of human reason was in Limbo, the first layer of Hell. (Canto IV, 67-144)
Okay, I've babbled on long enough. Dante's Comedia was written in the 1300's but a lot of people refer to it when describing the heavenly order; it's an easier reference tool then the Bible (since Dante is actively trying to explain the divine order) and a nice story to boot. It's worth reading if you're curious:

Or you can get a copy at a bookstore.
The speculation about the gates of Hell was just me guessing based off of Greek mythology and folktales of the American South.
If I missed the point entirely then please feel free to correct me.

P.S. It's Ms. Graves technically but I'd prefer just Graves.

GhostbusterCC...
I have been looking for more info on the 7 gates of hell for about a year and haven't been able to find anything more than a story. I live in berks county. I would love to check this place out. Any additional info you could give me on this would be greatly appreciated. The only Toad Road I've been able to find is located in Biglerville according to Terraserver. It would be a HUGE help if you could tell me where this place is. Hit me up on AIM if you have it, or send me an e-mail. Thanks

EGraves is very likely right. I'm not a Dante scholar, but this was all the information I could find that seemed to relate to any Hell Gates--and I was directed to that by someone who reads a lot, and is generally knowledgeable about the Bible.
Where's Belmont in all this. He seems to know better about religious stuff.

Hell itself is a metaphor not a physical place, at least not in terms that we as a species can understand. You can't just pack your bags one day and say "I'm going to look for Hell now", things don't work that way.
If Hell is in fact an actual place (which I believe it isn't) it is completely beyond our reach at least physically and beyond our comprehension.

maybe one of the gates of hell is in Jerusalem! But the whole idea about 7 continents, 7 gates seems bit nutty to me (believeable but nutty). Because if you think about it, theres really no such thing as a continent because its all land except there's water over it. (i don't really know what im going at there) but what i do know, is that maybe when these documentations of heaven and hell were made, the worlds geography may have been alot different. And also considering water levels and such. Like Atlantis. And i thought 7 was a GOOD number!
