Personally, as a Christian myself, I really don't believe in hell. The entire concept to me makes no sense, but religious beliefs aside, the idea of seven gates to hell is nonsensical in its own right. I just don't think that the divine would have such a solid link with Earth. I mean, having seven gates seems to suggest that hell is some physical place where you can just "go". I think a major problem in dealing with the divine (okay, so hell isn't divine, but if it exists, it would be of the same essence as heaven) is that people try to grasp it in human terms, like these are physical places, and that God is a man (or woman) who just happens to have really cool powers and is good, and that Satan is likewise for evil, blah blah blah. I personally think that these concepts are truly beyond our human comprehension.

I'm curious as to your sources. Specifically, I want to know where exactly in the Bible are vampires and the 7 gates referenced.
Are they canon or are those passages part of the Apocrypha?

well vyce, the bible mentions all kinds of crazy things that arent exactly what they are said to be i.e. the dragons mention all in the bible arent dragons acording the most poeple but im not christian and dont spend much time reading the bible so i cant tell ya

you know, i realise youre a christian. and because you are a christian your thoughts on the paranormal shouldnt be biased. in fact you paranormal ideas and thoughts should be more open as religion itself has alot to do with otherworldly ideas and beings. with heaven is hell, whether you believe in it or not, it is in the bible, and your disbelief and disproving of hell makes you going against your christianity. because with christianity, the whole religion its all or none when it comes to the bible. you have said "as a christian" many times, but with what you say, and following that, your ideals snuff out your actual topic.

i don't appreciate people telling me what to do venkmanfan49, you're not a mod, and by you're standards your post was off topic as well. but if you have a problem with me take it up with one of the mods, cause i've been a good memeber of this board for over a year now.
but to get back on topic, the 1 gate per continent makes a lot of sense

Oh gosh, don't get me started on this whole religion thing. I do resent the suggestion that because of my religion I am necessarily forced to accept all of this superstitious mumbo-jumbo (no offense). The Bible is just a book of stories with some morals to them. Not every word must necessarily be true, the important thing is that you understand the lessons it teaches.

I'm of the Christian faith myself, and have spent some time studying the Bible.
I've studied the more mysterious passages involving some of the cryptozoological creatures mentioned in the scriptures....so the dragon material isn't new to me. Take the story of how Daniel killed the King of Bablyon's dragon, for instance.
I'm just asking what his references are, because I can't honestly say that I have EVER seen vampires or the 7 gates referenced. There are witches in there, "dragons", Leviathan, Behemoth, the Beast, etc., but I've never seen vampires or Gates mentioned at all. Maybe I'm wrong.
I question if he's referencing the Apocrypha (which many do not consider canon), which has a great deal more information on demons, for example.

you shouldnt. but as a christian, you should accept all the mumbo jumbo. like i said before, its all or none. unless you are a bad christian, which is what i see alot of. dont be a pinhole bub.

well if the bible is just a book, you arent a christian. you need to define the word book in case of the bible. because in my heathen mind, its far from just being a book.

Its crazy, I never was religious, until i started reading up on the darker side of religion, like demons, hell and all that fun stuff. After learning more about the evil side of afterlife, I began to understand all the good stuff in the afterlife. Like I said, just gotta have faith, thats all we can rely on in this messed up world of ours.

lucid dreamer the bible only speaks of the seven seals which if u read almost sound like the gates of hell but i didnt find anywhere it says 7 gates of hell but i could be wrong, but what i dont get is how ppl fight just because they have a different beleifs, sorrie for gettin off of topic

man is flawed, therefore everything man does is inherintly flawed.
man wrote the bible, even if it was dictated by the voice of God, it was written by man and envitably flawed as well. the bible is a book like any other. it has many good morals and stories and other morals that aren't as good, i gave up the catholic faith a long time ago and still believe myself to be a christian in some respects as i believe in jesus and God, but i have my doubts about things and even why i believe, could it be that going to a catholic school for the first 5 years of schooling put the catholic fear of God into me that causes me to be a believer? i don't know. i try not to use the lord's name in vein and apoligize whenever i let it slip, i don't know why but i do. i do what's right and try to be a good human being.
if that makes me a bad christian so be it.

im not knockin you pk, im knockin the preacher. as a christian he should be so biased. and especially have no belief against hell. its moronic. if he doesnt believe in hell, he shouldnt believe in heaven.

i found it! i have found the passage. read revalations! it talks of the seven seals im pretty sure those are the gates
