This has got to be one of the spookiest paranormal occurences that has ever happened to me.
A few years ago, me and a couple of friends were discussing urban legends when one of us brought up Bloody Mary. The story goes that she used to be a murderer in like the sixteenth century and was killed. It seems that every time you step in front of a mirror and say her name three times, she comes and kills you. For this to work, your house must be completely dark, meaning no light can get in. I didn't believe it, so, on a dare, I decided to try it. What happened I still don't believe to this day, but here goes: as I was standing in front of my room mirror and saying her name three times, I saw my reflection holding one of those old style battle axes. I quickly flicked on the lights and my reflection returned to normal.
As strange as it was, I never really slept well for many months.

I get what you mean, Weav, but this is one Urban Legend that happened in real life that I wanted to discuss. I'll post under there in a few.

I think it's mostly the power of suggestion.
In your mind....you're expecting to see something. So when you perform the ritual, say the name 3 times, if you see anything, it's because you EXPECT to see something, and your mind compensates by making some sort of image appear.
Nevertheless, I've NEVER tried this, and would likely never attempt it. It's one thing to give a nice, comfortable rationalization. But what if I'm wrong?

Ok first 57 e-mails bout Bloody Mary. And now it's on here. What's goin on with this whole thing???? Did the 57 ppl who sent me the e-mails try it or sumfin?? And as for me trien it, NO CHANCE. I've had my loads of bad crap happenin to me. But that's another story. I wanna hear more bout this, keep this thread goin.

Yeah, mirrors scare me in general, in the dark that is. Bloddy Mary, Candyman...scary...of course my imagination runs wild and I end up scaring myself
I used to get so scared that I had to turn all the mirrors around in the house, my mom has a lot of mirrors at her place, which is also a very old and haunted house. shivers
But, anywho, never could go through with the whole Bloody Mary thing

Dr.loomis, The Bloody Mary refered to in this Urban legend is Mary Tudor.
Mary Tudor was the daughter of king Henry the Eight and Catherine of Aragon his first wife. After her half brother,Edward the Sixth
died,their cousin Lady Jane Grey , was crowned queen,the English revolted and crowned Mary Tudor the rightful queen of England.
She got the nickname "Bloody Mary" because
she in her desire to restore the Roman Catholic Church which had been driven underground during the reign of her brother,Edward,went around burning Protestants at the stake. Foxe's Book of Maryters is a book written during the 1550s
listing the names and martyerdoms of the Protestants she killed.
Mary Tudor was in her forties when she married her cousin,King Phillip of Spain.They had no children. Sir Thomas Wyatt,
among others led a revolt since the marriage was not popular with the people. He was executed along with others.
Mary Tudor was in I think her late 40s or early 50s when she died in her bed.
She was not beheaded.
You may be thinking of her old governess, Saint Margaret Plantagenet Pole,who was beheaed by Mary's father,henry the Eighth. That is another story in it's self.

we used too do that bloody mary thing back in elementary school...we'd get in trouble for turning the changeroom lights off, but it was fun...too bad nothing ever happened, though seing the bigger guys act all chickenish was rather entertaining (rather hear them).

I have heard about a lot of frightening things happened when u do bloody mary. I can't bring myself to try it. I heard when u do bloody mary you see a green flash
