Something never sat right with me in GB2...

The movie obviously takes place in NYC during December in NYC. Why is there no snow? Also, besides it being the sequal, what's the point of the GB logo holding up 2 fingers? Wouldn't ppl be going "Why're the GBs doing their logo like that?"?

The 2nd GB Logo is obviously a screw up if you ask me, but a lot of people come to think of it, including me atm, as a peace sign, especially since that is one of the themes of the movie.

There have been Decembers without snow in the past, it's not all that unusual.
I've always seen the GB2 logo is either (most obviously) a "2" as in "we're back for the second time" or the victory symbol ("V") also expressing their successful return.
I can't help but feel that the GB2 logo was only supposed to be temporary, just to signify their return and then afterwards they'd go back to the original. After considering the expense that would be involved though I'm really not all that sure anymore.

Common misconcpetion by non New Yorkers. Jus tbecause it's winter doesn't automatically mean snow comes 
I always thought the two finges represented there "Second Coming," so to speak.

See, in NY, we have this carbon bubble over the city that acts as a nice green house keeping it fairly warm in the cold seasons. Oh, sure, after a while it catches up, like we had snow in 2000, but 2001 was pitiful.
And I think it's more of a victory sign, that ya know, ya can't keep a good GB down. Anyone ever notice they but the "no" symbol backwards?

i personally subsribe to the theory of it being a peace symbol due to the underlying theme of the movie.

The city doesn't get that much snow... I think this year was the first year they've had a white Christmas in like 40 or some odd years... Also the GB 2 logo is that way simply for merchandising...

I agree. I really loved the original logo, and I think they should have just used that in GB II. There are two reasons for the GB II Logo:
A.) In "Real Life" they just made the new logo for marketing. Since GB II was made when RGB was still popular, they needed a sign to show that this wasn't part of RGB. So they came up with the new logo. The two fingers sticking up represent "2" or "II", to advertise it as a sequel. People would look at it, and think "Hey Part II".
B.) In the "Movie", the logo was a symbol to represent that they were back in business, hence the phrase and song, "We're Back!". The reason it had two fingers was to symbolize Peace, hence, the Peace sign. It was only temporary, though. After the end of GB II, (Yes, after the celebration at Liberty Island.), they changed the logo back to the original, in order to avoid confusion. The original Logo became an internationally recognized logo. So the Guys decided to keep it.

Its nothing to do with RGB... The no-ghost symbol was like the most popular trademark that the original movie created... They didn't want to put "Ghostbusters II" on the t-shirts they wanted to put that famous no-ghost logo on... How would they distingush the send movie from the first?? Give the ghost 2 fingers...

40 years??? There was a blizzard in 96 that buried cars for 3 days and a decent fall in 00.

For the snow; principal photagraphy took place during the Winter months of 1988. Many shots are in New York, and it is documented being very cold. Most notably the "I'm going to knock your lights out" scene where you see steam rising off them. And also when they were their Santa hats.
Therefore, Mother Nature decided it wouldn't snow then, because it was infact cold.
As for the GB2 2 fingered logo, it has many possible and logical reasonings behind it. Foremost is movie logic, in which it is used as "Revival" notice. I'll echo what many have already said with it meaning "We're back!". If you watch the party scene, its not there, you have the original logo. This was when they couldn't bust ghosts. But, after the court order was lifted they could busy ghosts. But since it'd been five years of the party biz, how would anyone know they could actually catch ghosts anymore? So they get a new advertising campain, with a new logo.
As for real life, the logo change was to cut down on confusion and to sell stuff.

i have to agree with (one of) our resident GB2 experts on this on the whole logo discussion. look at how many brands change/update logos.
as for the snow issue, i think it would have been a nice addition for just like one scene. it would have made it feel more "wintery."
one (of many) thing that get me about '2' was the lack of christmas. they went from wearing santa hats, straight to new years. i think it would have been cool to show the guys working late on Xmas eve, maybe complaining how busy they've been, and relating it to when they were busy around the time gozer popped up.
another thing that bugs me about GB2 is the lack of mentioning the rebuilding of the firehall and containment system. once again, like xmas, even a mention would have been nice. it would have made the continuity between the 2 films much better.i guess the "renovation" could possible explain the restored face to the firehall, ie- hook and ladder 8 above the garage doors and different color scheme.

Okay, howabout the fact it took place all in one month? Remember the wreath in Venkman's studio at the beginning. The whole movie covered just all of December.

And I know that logo had nothing to do with RGB. What I was saying, was that they needed it to signify it was something new. So GB II wouldn't get confused with anything that came before it.
